Gone...

Saturday I went back to my home woods in Fannin County, Texas to hunt deer with my brother. What I found I can't explain.

While I knew that logging was taking place on the land, I never knew that they'd take all of the timber. Standing there I was torn between the sadness of seeing the woods of my boyhood gone and the optimism of trying to make something out of the situation.

While it's ugly now, I know that all is not lost. Still, it is hard for me to stomach.

To see a bit of background on why this is happening, check out Hunt Junkies 1.2 from last fall.

    Russell,
Very nice commentary on what is confronting the people attached to the Sulphur River Bottoms. I hope that more people will see this, even if it only serves to impress upon urbanites and developers who might be unaware of the sacrifice made so that the majority can be comfortable.

Thanks a bunch for your comments. The sad thing is that the "dominoes" continue to fall.
