Being on the duck marsh, while the weather is still short-sleeve warm, is one of the finer pleasures in all of the Texas outdoors. Early season teal drift down to flooded fields and small ponds across the Lone Star State as they escape the coming cold from latitudes farther north. |

Whistling teal wings overhead excite all of your senses as your eyes strain to see the whoosh of color speed past. Pre-dawn teal are stealthy in that you often hear them but because of their sheer speed, you might not always see them coming.

While the birds are plentiful, that’s just the icing on the cake. The reasons you come are numerous: like watching the dogs work, hearing the teal buzz overhead, seeing the sights of the marsh, laughing with good friends, and sharing the love of the outdoors with others. The ultimate reason you come is because you simply love to hunt. For that, you make no apologies. |
